The following protest message will be sent.
To the Kazakhstan and Russian Federation authorities:
I am writing to you to protest and to warn!
I am extremely alarmed by the statement recently made by Kazakhstan trade union leaders, Esenbek Ukteshbayev and Ainur Kurmanov, about their present situation in Moscow. They have a clear understanding that the Russian and Kazakh intelligence forces are collaborating to try and silence them.
They believe the Kazakhstan regime is trying to hold them and others responsible for the killings of striking oil-workers and supporters (by state forces) in Zhenaozen on December 16 last year, as well as for generally ‘inciting social discord’.
I believe that any attempt to abduct Esenbek and Ainur, or arrest them – either on the territory of the Russian Federation or in Kazakhstan – will be utterly condemned world-wide. If anything happens to these two workers’ leaders, the Nazarbayev and Putin regimes will be held fully responsible.
I seek an assurance that they will not be subjected to any form of physical harassment and/or threat of abduction or arrest.
